Karakter at Simpson Bay
Karakter is a great place to visit on Simpson Bay Beach. Karakter is a delightful restaurant and bar operating out of a permanently located school bus (the kitchen and bar). The dining area is located next to the bus and they have a very nice menu selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A huge plus, they have exceptional beach chair service for drinks and food -- there is no charge for the chairs. Karakter fared well from the hurricane and were one of the first to be back in business.
Directions: It's on the Dutch side of the island and if you are traveling west from Cole Bay on Welfare Road towards the airport, you will make a left turn just before the sharp right before the round-a-bout. Follow the signs for about a half mile. Parking can be difficult as the lot fills from just before lunch through the day, so going earlier is best.
